Sanskarshala organized by Dainik Jagran

On November 13, students of classes VI to XII appeared for a one hour test on moral values based on the Sanskarshala articles circulated year round by Dainik Jagran. This test is conducted every year to test and spread moral values in the children of the present generation.


Winner of Yuva Sampadak Award:

Kareena Yadav of Class X won a certificate and prize for making a Hindi Newspaper – Yuva Sampadak organized by Dainik Jagran. She received her prize and certificate at Constitution Club of India at New Delhi on 7th November 2014.


IT Wiz Quiz at IIT Delhi:

24 students participated in IT Wiz Quiz at IIT Delhi which was conducted by TCS. TCS IT Wiz, the biggest inter school IT Quiz programme in India, started in 1999 as a part of the educational Initiative under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). As Asia’s largest IT firm, TCS plays a pioneering role to help build awareness about technology and provide a window to the world of Information Technology for young students. The event is a pioneering initiative by TCS to engage young India continuously at a National level on an interactive knowledge platform using digital, social media, and other tools. This Quiz has also earned an entry in LIMCA Book of Records as India’s first IT Quiz. Nisha Dwivedi of Class XII of RPS won a lucky winner prize of headphones worth Rs. 750/-


Folk Dance Performance at Epicentre in a Musical Memorial – Remembering Chacha Nehru:

A group of students of Rotary Public School performed a Rajasthani Folk Dance on the eve of Children’s Day at Epicentre, Gurgaon where a Musical Memorial was held in remembrance of Chacha Nehru on 9th November 2014.


Inter School Fancy Dress Competition:

Rotary Public School hosted an Inter School Fancy Dress Competition on 13th November 2014 – on the eve of Children’s Day. Prominent Pre-Schools of Gurgaon like Good Shepherd School, Rainbow Kids, Phulwari Kids, Genesis School, Kids Camp and ABC School participated enthusiastically. The programme started with an opening dance performance by Palak and Manasvi. The Fancy dress show participants in the Western Party Wear category in the age group of 2-3 party theme bedazzled the audience with their oomph and panache. The Kid-Fashion Fairy tale event for age group 3-4 years was mesmerizing with Cinderella, Snow White, Sindbad, Akbar and Thumbelina stealing the show. In the third category of Indian Bridal Wear for age group 4-5 years saw elegant brides and grooms onstage and regaled the audience with their confidence and vibrant costumes. The Principal, Miss Gulshan Dewan honoured the winners with prizes. The day concluded with the Headmistress Mrs. Sandeepa Rai congratulating the participating teams and wishing them Happy Children’s Day.


Winners of Solo Song & Solo Dance Competitions awarded by District Child Welfare Association:

On the occasion of Children’s Day, District Child Welfare Association awarded the winners of Solo Song & Solo Dance Competition at Bal Bhawan Gurgaon. The Deputy Mayor of Gurgaon Municipal Corporation Mr. Parminder Kataria inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Palak of Class V of Rotary Public School, who was declared the winner of solo dance competition at district level, gave a classical dance performance. Palak, Kanishka Bhardwaj, Anjana Nair & Anjali Mukherjee received the prizes for winning solo dance & solo song competitions held earlier in the month.


Children’s Day celebration at RPS:

Children’s Day is not just a day to let the future generation have its say. It is a day to remember a leader who, in his quiet but determined way, laid the foundation to convert a nascent nation into a world power. It is the day when children all over the country are pampered with goodies. From the school child’s point of view, the best thing perhaps is that it is a special day at school – they need not wear uniforms and are given sweets. Children’s Day is a day for children to engage in fun and frolic. Schools celebrate this day by organising cultural programmes where teachers of the school perform songs and dances for their students. In RPS too, the day started with the students of classes I to XII assembled in the amphitheatre for celebrating Chacha Nehru’s birthday. Ms. Apoorva Khanduri (Music Teacher) along with two students – Anjana Nair & Anjali Mukherjee, sang “Bachche Mann Ke Sachche” & “Bam Bam Bole” which were dedicated to all children. A special show for children wherein paper folding techniques to make various decorative things were presented by Mr. Tekchand. A D.J. was arranged for children of Pre-Primary Classes where children clad in Chacha Nehru’s attire danced their hearts out and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The day concluded with distribution of chocolate and cookies to all children.


Times NIE Think and Learn Challenge:

The student edition of Times of India – NIE (News In Education) in collaboration with Byju’s Classes – India’s premier teaching company focusing on various competitive exams, invited students of Classes VIII, IX & X to participate in a fun-filled yet ‘learning through fun’ challenge that focused on Analytical and Logical reasoning. The Challenge is to help students understand their learning fingerprint and give insight into their scientific and mathematical aptitude. The test which was rigorously developed by experts and aimed at evaluating what the student has already learned and assesses their future capability. Round 1 of the test was conducted in the school premises and in the Round 2 a city level round at Delhi was conducted for the top 10 percentile of every school. Anshu Chauhan of Class IX was declared the topper of our school and was awarded a Samsung Galaxy Tab and a certificate.


Workshop on Recognizing Body Changes & Managing Stress in Adolescent Boys:

A workshop was conducted for the boys of Classes VII & VIII in the school Audio Visual Hall on adolescence and the body changes in boys during its stage by Ms. Aditi Kaul (Art Therapist) and Dr. Shwerang (Psychiatrist) – an experienced team from Fortis Hospital Gurgaon. The session included an interaction, power point presentation, discussion and question answer round.


Melange 2014 – Annual Function of RPS:

Amidst the chilly air and winter winds RPS commemorated its 32nd Annual Function ‘MELANGE 2014′ on 29th November, 2014. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Manoj Desai – Rotary International Director Elect and Madam Sharmishtha Desai. Chairman School Managing Committee Rtn. Chander Parkash Gauba, distinguished members of the School Managing Committee, PDG Dr. Sushil Khurana, Rtn. Rajesh K. Soota, dignitaries from RI District 3010, a large number of Rotarians, VIPs and the parents attended and appreciated the function.

The auspicious evening started with ‘Power of Prayer’- the prayer dance. Speaking on the occasion, Miss Gulshan Dewan, the Principal RPS, recalled the school’s achievements, took stock for the readiness for the future and shared with all, a glimpse of hopes and aspirations for the travelogue ahead in the annual report ‘Stones 2 Milestones’. A long list of achievers gave exhilaration to the mood and received maximum applause from the enthusiastic parents and guests. This was a true recognition to their efforts.

The Chief Guest Dr. Manoj Desai expressed his wonder at the professional level presentation of the program and appreciated the efforts of the school and the School Managing Committee to make the evening a grand success and also praised the noble works of the Rotarians for providing free and concessional education to the economically weaker section of the society thus proving their words that ‘No deserving child would be deprived of quality education due to economic constraints’. The School Chairman Rtn. Chander Parkash Gauba rendered ‘Vote of Thanks’.

In two and a half hours’ cultural evening, many items presented thrill and skill through entertaining dances, orchestra and music. ‘Euphoria-Anthem of Peace’, Ballet ‘Aparajita-An Ode to Women’ and the Grand Finale ‘Desert Odyssey’ were the star attraction. A large gathering, as usual, attended, enjoyed and appreciated the Annual Function MELANGE 2014.
